21st Century Environmental Leadership Camp

[Sagayen, Asuncion] The Provincial Government of Davao del Norte through the Office of Provincial Environment and Natural Resources joined the Environmental Leadership Training Camp and the Launching of Go Green Davao del Norte Division for CY 2019 at Sagayen Elementary School and Sagayen National High School, Barangay Sagayen, Municipality of Asuncion, Davao del Norte.


The said activity seeks to achieve the following objective:

(1) Learn about climate change adaptation and disaster preparedness utilizing

best practices and models designed and locally-developed in disaster-prone areas;

(2) Inculcate among students the critical role of environmental protection in preventing and coping with effects of climate change such as typhoons, floods, earthquakes and droughts; (3) Develop students’ awareness on the state of the environment, focusing on significant issues and concerns; (4) Ensure students’ active participation and determine concrete action in the protection, preservation and rehabilitation of the environment and the conservation of natural resources in their respective areas with the constant guidance of teacher, school principals, supervisors and other school and the Department of Education Officials; (5) Instill environmental value in every student to motivate actual involvement in worthwhile programs and projects for the environment; and (6) Strengthen the implementation of various school-based environment programs and projects of DepEd, PENRO and other environment-related agencies. Generally, it aims to create awareness on the importance of respecting and appreciating our nature through leadership and influence, critical and incentive thinking, projects and service learning. The activity was attended by the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization Officers, active members and advisers both from private and public, elementary and secondary including the teachers, school heads and supervisors in the Division of Davao del Norte.
