BASURESIKLO brought joy to Carmen Nat'l HS

CARMEN, DAVAO DEL NORTE - The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), in tandem with the Solid Waste Management Unit of LGU-Carmen and the DENR- Environmental Management Bureau XI collaborated in the conduct of buy-back operation for non-profitable wastes at Carmen National High School last August 13, 2019.


The activity dubbed as "BASURESIKLO:Gasa ni Kuya, Baylo sa Basura" supports the advocacy of Kuya Gov Edwin I. Jubahib to educate the youth on waste diverson by incentivizing proper waste collection pursuant to R. A. 9003.


In his welcome remarks, Mr. Armando Llanes, Assistant School Principal, expressed gratitude to the governor's program as wastes generation and collection is their major problem in the campus. The trading activity was participated by 79 students from various campus organizations.


It collected a total of 58.743 kilograms of wastes consisting of clean and dry PET bottles, sachets, plastic food wrappers, disposable plastic cups and cellophanes and distributed a total of 10 kilograms of rice, 36 pieces of eco-themed bag tags and 20 pieces tumblers. PENRO targets more schools to be visited in the coming months.
